Count sessions. A streak is a costume.
September 15, 2026 · Habit tool, not medical advice
A streak is a costume you wear for a forum. Green days. A number that only moves one way until it dies. Counting porn sessions is uglier and more useful. You sat down or you did not. The week is a total, not a performance.
If one slip deletes nineteen clean days, you will treat the slip like a fire sale. The streak taught you that. A cap does not care about the fire sale. It cares how many times you sat down.
What a streak is training
A day counter says the only honest state is zero use. Anything else is failure, so failure might as well be large. That is how a twelve-minute slip becomes a night.
A streak also needs an audience, even a private one. You protect the number. You hide the peek so the square stays green. Then the log is fiction and Thursday is a binge because the fiction cracked.
Resetting to day zero is the same lesson with a badge on it. The badge is not the habit. The sit-downs are.
Clean days are real. They are just a bad unit. A clean day can hide three peeks you refused to name. A session count cannot. If you opened the row and stayed, it is one. If you left in ten seconds, write the rule before the week starts, then keep it.
What to count instead
Pick a definition and stop rewriting it at 1am.
- A sit-down that ended in use counts, even if it was short.
- Two hits in one night are two if that is how you actually talk about them.
- A peek you stayed in counts. Length is not the test. The chair is.
Do not count moods. Do not count how bad it felt. Do not count “almost.” Almost is a near-miss you can jot in a margin. The total is chairs.
Write the weekly number where you will see it. A note is enough. At the end of seven days, that number is the week you had. Reduce from that count. A smaller total you will still tell the truth about beats a forty-day streak you will torch on night forty-one.
How to use the number this week
You will not out-argue a broken streak at 12:20am. Use the total while you are still standing.
- Count last week before you write a vow. If you used eight times, do not write a ninety-day streak. Write a cap at eight or seven.
- When you slip, add one to the total. Keep the cap. Do not open a second sit-down because the streak “died.”
- Check the total once a day, not every hour. Hourly counting is a new ritual. The ritual becomes a hunt.
- If the total is already over, today’s remaining room is zero. Tomorrow’s cap is still the cap. The week continues.
You can still notice clean days. Put them in the same note if you want. Just do not let the clean-day number be the only object in the room. The object is the cap.
The test
Can you say this week’s sit-down count out loud without rewriting your identity? If yes, you have a plan. If you can only say how many days since the last time, you have a costume. Costumes binge when they tear.
A cap that holds with an ugly total is still a cap. A streak that looks perfect because peeks did not count is a story. Stories do not step down. Numbers do.
This is not medical advice. Compulsive use, or a streak crash that swallows sleep and work, is worth a clinician. Still count the chair. The chair is what happened.
